VoiceTale ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the VoiceTale mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you sign in via Google or Apple, we receive basic profile information from those providers.

Voice Recordings

We collect voice recordings that you voluntarily provide for the purpose of creating AI voice clones. With your consent, these recordings are sent to and processed by ElevenLabs (our voice AI partner) to generate a synthetic voice model. The original recordings may be retained for the duration of your account to maintain voice quality.

Story Prompts

When you create a personalized story, the text you enter (your story idea and any refinements) is sent, with your consent, to OpenAI to generate the story. We share only the text you type for this purpose.

Usage Data

We automatically collect information about how you interact with the app, including stories played, listening duration, feature usage, and device information (device model, OS version, app version).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Generate personalized bedtime stories that you request.
• Create and maintain AI voice clones from your recordings.
• Improve our services and develop new features.
• Send you important service updates and communications.
• Provide customer support and respond to your requests.

3. Intended Audience

VoiceTale is intended for use by adults (18 and older). The app is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. All account creation, voice recording, and story generation is performed by an adult account holder.

While the stories an adult creates may be enjoyed by their family, the app does not require or collect any personal information about children to function. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

4. Voice Data & Biometric Information

Voice recordings and the resulting AI voice models may be considered biometric data under certain jurisdictions. We treat this data with the highest level of care:

• Voice data is collected only with your explicit consent.
• Voice models are used solely for generating bedtime stories within the VoiceTale platform.
• We do not sell, license, or share your voice data with third parties for their own purposes.
• When you delete your account, all voice recordings and voice models are permanently deleted within 30 days.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption both in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. We use Supabase for database and authentication services, which provides enterprise-grade security with row-level security policies ensuring data isolation between accounts.

Audio files are stored in secure cloud storage with access controls that restrict access to authorized users only. We regularly review and update our security practices to protect your information.

6. Third-Party Services

VoiceTale shares specific data with the third-party AI and infrastructure providers below to deliver its features. We obtain your explicit consent in the app before sending any voice recording or story text to an AI provider. Each provider is contractually required to protect your data and process it only on our behalf, providing the same or equal level of protection described in this policy. Each also maintains its own privacy policy governing its use of data:

We share only the minimum data necessary with each provider to deliver the service. If you decline an AI consent prompt, that feature is simply not available and no data is sent.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access and receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate personal data.
• Delete your account and all associated data, including voice recordings and voice models.
• Export your data in a portable format.
• Opt out of non-essential communications.
